Principia History 1990 Three engineers, friends and cycling enthusiast decided that they together would build the best cycle frame in the world. This became the start of an evolution in framemaking. In September 1990 Principia A/S was founded in the north of Denmark. The name Principia was inspired by Issac Newton great work “Philosophiae Naturalis Principia Mathematica” published on July 5th 1687 and contains laws of motion and gravitation. 1992 Principia is running a good but not always easy business. It is hard to get the right alloy materials. 1996 Principia has really made a breakthrough especially among triatlets and the Principia frame is the most used European bicycle in this years Hawaii Ironman. 1998 For the first time sponsoring in cycling. The two Danish professional cycling teams “Team Acceptcard” and “Team Chicky World” were riding Principia bikes this year winning races worldwide, by riders like Brian Holm, Jacob Piil and Steffen Kjærgaard. 2000 Sponsoring the British cycling team “Linda McCartney Pro Cycling Team” The team com peted among other big races in the Giro d’Italia and the rider David McKenzie took home the first brilliant win for the team and Principia on stage 7 getting the attention of the world press. Other riders in the team this year were Pascal Richard and Max Sciandri. Principia A/S has now 29 full time employees. 2002 Principia has 15 international distributors around the world. Countries like Germany, Great Britain, USA, Singapore and South Africa. 2003 Principia is sponsoring the professional cycling team “Team EDS Fakta” The team competed in races all over the world and won among other races the “Tour of Luxembourg” by the Swedish champion, Marcus Ljungqvist. Other riders in the team were, Magnus Backstedt and Kurt Asle Arvesen. 2005 Principia was bought by the oldest family owned cycle company in the world, HF Christiansen of witch Principia is still part of today. 2007 Sponsoring the Danish cycling team “Team GLS” Competing in races worldwide. 2008 Sponsoring riders competing in the Olympic Games Beijing in more than 4 cycling disciplines. Winning ? medals.. Participating in the biggest international high-end trade show “EuroBike” September 4 - 7
